Firewall in Kaspersky Internet Suite

Can someone tell me if the Kaspersky firewall in their suite is their own firewall or somoene else's and if someone has experience with it, I would appreciate feedback.

I know that the Zone Alarm suite now uses Kaspersky anti virus so I thought that Kaspersky may use the ZA fireall.

No, the firewall that they use is their own. ZA uses the antivirus engine only.

I have Kaspersky's Internet Security, and I like the firewall component. I have XP2.

The only problem I've had is that I had made some changes and, afterwards, I'd get a 'forbidden' msg when trying to log onto a known legit site. It turned out that I had turned on Parental Control, maybe because young relatives come over and I sometimes let them use the computer, so I thought this was a good idea. Problem was that I was getting blocked from legit sites which was bugging the hell out of me trying to figure out what was wrong.

Anyway, after I disabled it, all was well again.

I my self had (Kaspersky's internet security v.7.0.0125)running on my p.c too!!, And guess what happened to me last night!
I was hacked while chatting in an HTML webpage, and all of a sudden my 2nd HHD started making this weird noise, its like when u start the computer and the disk starts running, but it kept on making this continuous sound on and off! Then windows stoped responding! I rebooted, and my system was so slow. I ran a virus scan and nothing showed up on the scan! Then I could not see my other hard drive under my computer!
i was hacked with not even a single warning from kaspersky's firewall at all~!. and now im only left with one driver for xp, cause the other hard drive died on me.
Later on I installed sygate firewall and im having my fingers crossed.

Lots of logical disconnects here. But malware can effect software but not actual hardware. And as such, might be able to break the software link to your second HDD, but could not actually break the drive itself. The other big myth is that scans, even by excellent after the fact scanners will detect all malware.

I would therefore recommend you post a hijack this logfile of your first hard drive. See instructions on the Schrenfroh thread on the top most thread of this security forum.

I would say your hard drive just died. Plug it into another computer and see if you can see it and run a scan on it.
