The activity at home varies. On a busy day, logs might total a few hundred KB. I run an IP logger and an IDS (snort) in addition to a firewall and I have a copy of their log messages routed to a transparent background window so I can watch things in real time if necessary. I used to have everything piped through a Perl regex which would color-code the log messages based on type and severity but that had some problems so I'm back to monochrome for now :-/. The IP logger generates the most log noise by far, followed by the IDS. The firewall actually generates the least amount of log traffic.
