Trying to access the media on the USB drive that is connected to my router.
Using VLC on the firestick, I can see the folder where the media is but when I try to open it
VLC asks for router user/pass. I give the user/pass but still fails to open the folder or access any other stuff on the USB
this is being done via network wireless

It sounds like a permissions issue or maybe a network configuration problem. First, double-check that your router is set up correctly to allow file sharing. Sometimes there’s a specific setting for USB sharing that needs to be enabled. Also, make sure that the user account you’re using actually has the right permissions to access those files. If you’re sure everything on the router side is good, try logging into the USB drive via another device, like a laptop, to see if it’s working there. If it works, then it might be an issue with VLC or the Firestick. You could also try using a different media player app on the Firestick to see if that helps.
