I had a gas insert installed in my fireplace four years ago. A neighbor told me that I should have it professionally cleaned. The people who installed it want $100 to check everything out. It is working just fine. Google was not much help. Has anyone had maintenance done on theirs? This is a complete insert with glass. Not the type that you set a few logs in and run a burner beneath.

Whats there to clean? I'd check that the exhaust vent isn't clogged but there's not much to clean in a gas fireplace.

The only thing I ever cleaned on ours was the glass. The inside would get dirty but the glass door was removable for cleaning. I had the dealer come out the first year to check it out since it was used to heat our cabin all winter while we were gone. I wanted to make sure it was going to work. It was a waste of money. As long as the ceramic logs aren't getting black from carbon you are fine.
