Just a quick poll... I have a 7950gt 512MB KO SC in my secondary rig at home which acts as a 3D workstation in Lightwave 3D mostly (very little-No gaming really occurs on this machine)

Would it be worth it to swap it out for a FireGL V3400 128MB card? Or should I just keep on rockin the 7950GT? What are the benefits of a workstation card anyway that makes them so pricey?

(I know I would lose quite a bit of potential gaming performance by going with the V3400)

absolutely not, since u work with 3d modeling/rendering your gpu is used only while you model and the rendering is done solely by your cpu and ram. the 7950gt most probably can handle pretty well all the models you are working with and firegl is much slower here. if u have some money to spend get a quad core or more ram if u have dual core proc and less than 4 gigs, any of these upgrades would make a significant change when it comes to rendering
