Firefox themes won't load

I'm trying to get this done for my mom before i leave tonight, so quick help is much appreciated.

Basically, I can install themes just fine, but when I click "use this theme" and restart firefox, it's still the standard. It won't actually apply the new theme. I'm running 1.5, and i made sure that the themes i want to use are all for 1.5. I've tried a few different themes all with the same result. I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling firefox, but to no avail.

Help?
