Is there a way to set Firefox so that when I close a tabbed window, it doesn't go to to the tab immediately next to it..but rather the one that was open last? Basically the way it's done in Opera, or in Windows applications?

Does that make sense?

I actually like it the way it is. If I open up 10 threads in ATOT, I can read them one at a time and close each with mouse gestures. When I'm done reading all of them, I'm back to the parent tab.

You can do that in Opera tabbed browsing as well.

What I like to do this is open a new window from my current window, and be able to close it and get back to the page I was just at.

In Firefox though, when I close the new window it will go to the window to the left of it..

Via extensions, yes.
