Firefox question

This is more of an irritation than a real problem. I just installed Firefox v. 1.0.4 on my desktop on which the hd was just formatted. Now, every time I launch Firefox, it opens to my default Home setting along with an "Untitled" tab. I've tried to get rid of the tab but with no success.

Anyone know how to get rid of it?

Try this: go to your preferred home page and make sure it's the only tab open. Go into the options and specify to use the current tab as your homepage. Then restart and see if that changes anything.

There are still a number of security vulnerabilities in Firefox that remain unpatched. I know this is a bit off topic, but if you're under the impression that FireFox is going to be more secure than IE, then I'm afraid you're mistaken. Details here

Theres also the fact that Firefox is targeted less, and its patched more regularly than IE.

Anyone wanting browser security should ensure that they're running it under a Limited account. Take the ammo out of the weapon.

Details for Internet Explorer:

I really prefer FireFox over IE, as IE seems to have:
more unpatched problems
problems are more severe
there are more possibilities of system access

This wasn't a security issue, guys. catrats was actually pretty close.

I finally figured out the problem. When I installed Firefox, I imported IE's bookmarks. Well, it apparently also imported IE's home page. So, in Options right after my homepage, there was "about:blank." When I deleted about:blank, the "Untitled" tab disappeared. Weird problem, weird solution, but I finally figured it out.

I think that's a dangerous assumption. And I don't think anybody will be particularly enthused by the fact that Firefox still contains unpatched security holes dating back to the end of August 2004. 🙁

Its a dangerous assumption that happens to be true. Look at the number of time IE is targeted vs. IE. Sure neither is perfect, but I never said firefox was. Its simply a which is better than the other scenario. And in this case, Firefox is simply more secure. Could that easily change? Yes. But all I know is I rarely hear about hackers targeting a browser with 10% market share. But yes, good point, that both programs still have their holes.
