Firefox problem... won't load pics.bbzzdd.com all the way.

So I have had this problem for a while. It is on my work PC, so it might have something to do with our webcache system, but I doubt it.

Here are some examples of what happens.

1. I go to the Last 25 gallery of pics.bbzzdd.com (or any other site clone of it), and it loads the first 3-7 thumbnails, but then the progress bar just hangs up and it will not load the rest of the page. If I refresh the page, it will do the same thing, but it might get more thumbnails to load, or less, and sometimes it will load the entire page. It is random, but for the most part, it only loads the first few.

2. I click the Search button, after I am on the Search page in these forums, and the screen goes white, like it is loading the results, and the URL even says it is the results URL, but the progress bar again, locks up and will not continue to load.

3. The Newegg.com search does the same thing as above.

4. When I Click REPLY on these forums, it does the same thing as listed above. The way around it, it by posting my message, click the Back button, then clicking Refresh.

The only correlation I see, is that all these functions use Javascript.

I have updated to the newest Java, from Java.com (even though I don't think Java have anything to do with Javascript), I have tried Firefox .7, .8, .9, 1.0PR, and 1.0... and they all do the same. I have uninstalled and re-installed multiple times too. All these sites work fine in IE.

Anyone have a clue? 🙂

Yikes, people have to stop talking about javascript problems and then try to fix it by making sure their jre is up-to-date. You seem to have the idea, edro13, but just so everyone else knows: javascript and java have nothing to do with eachother! Java is quite rarely used in websites and when it is, it has it's little box with it's little gui and essentially no interaction with the rest of the page. It's very much like a flash object.

As for the problem at hand: have you tried this using firefox from outside of work? IE specific javascript is a possiblity but it'd be good to try to isolate that as the cause.

Yeah, my Firefox versions work fine at home. Maybe I could try the obvious step of trying this on another machine from work... 🙂

Test from another machine at work...

Yep, same thing, from a fresh install of Firefox 1.0 on a new machine, on XP Pro.

This might have something to do with our webcache system... 🙁
