Firefox "other bookmarks" issue

I just noticed I was losing bookmarks, sometimes entire folders of bookmarks in Firefox. Well I just looked inside the "other bookmarks" folder all the way at the bottom of my list and THERE were all the bookmarks IK couldn't find recently.
Does anyone have ANY clue what is going on, or does it sound familiar? I have no way of beginning to comprehend what I could be doing that could cause this.
