Firefox not showing plugins (Flash, QT, etc.)

So my installation of FF 1.5 is not showing any plugins. I tried reinstalling FF, and the associated plugins. To no avail. Should I try a Beta release? I have been using opera, but I like FF a bit better, and I have already accumulated lots of useful cookies as well. (Is there a way to transfer them to Opera?) Anyhow, machine is a 2500+ 1.5GB XP/SP2. I think it is almost time to reinstall windows, but I do not think this problem is related to others I have been having.
