I tried the below trick and set the value to 1 but Firefox is not always getting the most recent version of the page until I manually hit CTRL + F5

This is causing me a lot of trouble as I always get older versions of the page until I manually hit CTRL + F5

Please help, what else can I do to force Firefox to always get the most recent version of the page like IE does?

If you want Firefox to automatically refresh pages when you load them so that you always get the latest page when you access a site (very helpful in Message Boards to ensure you are viewing the latest threads and posts, do this:

  • In the Firefox address bar at the top, type about:config
  • Then type in browser.cache.check_doc_frequency
  • Change the value to 1 to force a cache refresh so that the page is refreshed automatically upon every visit.

Other values you may want to consider (ie. you want to revert back to the normal refresh mode):
3 - only check if it seems outdated
2 - always use cached version
1 - always check for newer version
0 - check for newer version once per session
