Firefox message I keep getting

Muse

Lifer
I run Firefox on my PC and laptop, both with XP Pro. On the laptop only, I get the following message a lot:

--------------------------------------------------------
Security Warning
--------------------------------------------------------

You have requested an encrypted page. The web site has identified itself correctly, and information you see or enter on this page can't easily be read by a third party.

[Checkbox unchecked] Alert me whenever I am about to view an encrypted page.

OK

--------------------------------------------------------

I find this confusing. I figure there's no good reason for me to continually have to press OK to this message and that I'd like it to go away. It makes no sense to me that checkbox. It's unchecked. Presumably, if I check it before hitting the OK button, I will get even more alerts. Color me way confused. What's up with this?? 😕

I only get those on the first run with a new profile, leaving the default of "Don't keep telling me about this" makes it stop just fine.

OK, well, the message I get makes no sense, at least not to me. So, how do I get it to stop bothering me? 😕

in firefox's url bar, type about:config

look for the security.warn_viewing_mixed (should be false) and security.warn_viewing_mixed.show_once (should be true) parameters. I think you can change them right there (double-click the value to flip the boolean setting), then restart firefox.

I should add that I don't know if this will fix the problem, but maybe it will put you on the right track. Good luck.
