firefox is making me scream

until tonight, every time i opened firefox i had a window to choose various profiles i'd create for various things (due to firefoxs memory issues). i haven't selected the option to "always use this profile" or whatever it's called but it's just gone.

opens a plain new profile. my stuffs there under local/roaming firefox just refuses to let me open it - for the most part. now if nothing else is open and i try it shows me the options but fails to let me open another concurrent window.

it's really weird and i cant see an option in firefox for this.

originally i enabled it by creating a shortcut to the exe:
firefox.exe -P "test" -no-remote

still fine on my laptop. wtf!

at least i have FEBE backups of everything anyway just in case

as in cmd prompt?

dont know how, but this morning it's working again, so thank god for that!

as good as febe is, i wish there was a proper tool for backing up profiles.

better than chrome though "google chrome backup" doesn't do a damn thing but give errors or write a file that can't then be restored. i mean opening that program starts off saying "new version of chrome, want to upgrade?" then goes onto say "you dont have chrome installed".

sorry, had to rant

It sucks that the once awesome Firefox has become such a bitch to use over the last several versions.

It's gotten so I can't find a browser that works exactly how I like it to and is at the same time 100% stable.

it's why i'm trying to get backups working properly. firefox i'm more of less there with FEBE. but the one (GBM i think) for chrome sucks donkey balls.

wished opera never turned crap.

in win8: go to windows system in start menu, all programs and choose run.

type: firefox.exe -p

hit ok and see if that works.

alternatively, right click the firefox shortcut and add the -p to the program location under Target.
