FireFox Help

1. I keep getting "Illegal Operation of Shockwave Flash" messages whenever I visit certain sites, like The Daily Show Site. It automatically closes down the browser.

2. I recently started a new website and on one page, I embeded about 4 or 5 audio clips (each about 200KB each). Anyways, in IE6, QuickTime shows up, but in FF, neither QT nor WMP shows up. Anyway to have FireFox display it? I've had problems with other sites, too.

TIA 🙂

1) Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling with the latest version of FF? I've found doing that (and updating to the latest extensions) has helped the few FF-related problems I've had.

2) The same thing has been happening to me at work...I have to use IE (Urrggh!) to watch embedded music or videos.

I'll have to do that. I guess I should backup my bookmarks and make a list of all my extensions I'll have to redownload.

Don't forget to clean up your profile too (or at least rename it). But I guess you already know that 🙂

When I had Firefox, it stopped working!! Now, this may sound like a IE vs. Firefox thing, but it's not. I actually liked Firefox over IE until THIS happened:

Everytime I tried to open it, it kept asking me did I want to install Firefox....this was weeks after I'd installed it, and all of a sudden, it wouldn't let me browse without "installing" it first!

So I said yes, and it lost ALL OF MY BOOKMARKS.

Thank God they were still in my IE favorites. What gives? I ran 3 different spyware checks (ad-aware, spybot and spyware doctor), AND an updated McAfee virusscan, but they found nothing

Several of us have been hit with the lost bookmarks bug. I think it mainly happens if the system is shutdown unexpectedly while FF is running.

I was browsing AT one night and the power went off. When I booted back up, FF had lost all my bookmarks and extension settings. I just uninstalled everything, deleted my profile directory and started from scratch.
