I have downloaded and installed version 1.0 & prior to that 1.0PR. I've modified my user.js and about:config, to include the "browser.urlbar.autoFill" boolean and set it to true. Still doesn't work. Would appreciate some help.

Try Tools -> Options -> Privacy -> Saved Form Information.
Click the "+" sign, then check the box.
