The only thing I've downloaded in the last couple of days is http://www.paltalk.com/PalTalkSite/ and yahoo messenger. Now, my firefox has a browser bar stuck in it. I have microsoft antispyware and spybot S&D so the browser bar isn't there, but there is a big white bar where the browser bar is supposed to be. Any suggestions on how I remove?

Tried uninstalling the two new programs yet, as a fact-finding step? Also, what antivirus software are you using, exactly?

Neither of them are antivirus software. Are you saying you don't have any antivirus software? If so, try a 30-day trial of Kaspersky AV Personal 5 (not Pro) and set it up like this: link to setup suggestions. If you don't end up wanting to buy it, it uninstalls nice & clean. Good stuff, according to the test results at av-comparatives.org and my experience cleaning up my little sister's rig.

Did you update the defs and run an exhaustive scan?

Re-reading what you said before, it sort of sounded like you removed some spyware and now just the empty bar is left... or am I misinterpreting that? If you did remove spyware, what spyware was it (look in Microsoft AntiSpyware logs for its name)?

Aghhh I right clicked on the toolbar and I had 3 things checked:

-Navigation toolbar
-Bookmarks toolbar
-my search toolbar.

I unclicked mysearch and the space went away but that means that some of mysearch installed itself. How do I get rid of it?

Stopped mysearch in during the installation of Paltalk. mysearch never installed but some of it seemed to slip through.

This is a YMMV idea, but try what I wrote up in this text file. McAfee goes after a certain amount of spyware and they update that utility daily, last I checked. It runs in command-line mode and the optimal situation would be to disable System Restore, reboot into Safe Mode, and run it like that. Besides some of the common spyware, it'll go after stuff like StartPage-GT, a browser-neutral search hijacker that I took note of a while back.

The scan could take a while if you have lots of data, especially if you opt for Safe Mode, so maybe run it overnight.
