I have been experiencing more & more problem with Firefox & adobe flash player. When I browse several sites, esp hardware sites with lots of ads (flash enabled), then firefox starts to crawl and not responding within several minutes.
This happens with any firefox version upto the latest, and it happens only on certains sites, like :

http://www.techtimes.com/articles/1...-new-features-to-expect-in-2016-flagships.htm

http://www.techtimes.com/articles/1...uld-launch-on-nov-11-hints-company-teaser.htm

Whenever I browse these 2 pages in different tab in firefox, the memory consumption keeps creeping up from 350-400MB upto 1.8 GB. At 1GB , firefox starts to crawl & extremely sluggish, upto a point where it is not responding at all.

This problem still happens even in firefox safe mode with only adobe flash player the only active addon.

I've tried many things, like :
Uninstall/reinstall firefox , creating new profile, cleaning temporary files/cookies, uninstall/reinstall flash player ....nothing helps.
I even tried windows reinstall with only firefox & flash player .....same thing. So, I know it's an inherent problem with firefox & adobe flash player.
It is not malware or anything. It's something about firefox & flash player bug. All 3 computers in my home have the same problem.

Can anyone replicate this ?

First, make sure your Firefox and Flash Player are up to date.

But I have to say, it seems "normal". Flash Player has horrid memory leaks.

Skype now includes Flash Player .OCX file, to show embedded ads. My Skype errored last night, ran out of memory. Come to find out, it was using 1.4GB of RAM. Had to re-start it.

All because of Flash Player.

Nice to hear I'm not the only one with this problem. It's really annoying. Edge really sucks, IE sucks, FF sucks. Seems to me that the market is ripe for a new browser although I've never understood the business model behind browsers.

Another huge annoyance is when a webpage keeps scrolling up on its own when I'm assuming whatever is loading is demanding the focus, (probably wrong terminology) when I'm trying to scroll down to read. I have days when I think maybe it's time to find another means of entertainment.

Disable Flash and only enable it when you absolutely need it for the page you may be viewing.

In the specific situation you mentioned, an ad blocker will fix this. Those sites loaded fine until I turned Adblock off. When I turned it off, the one core I gave to my VM went full tilt (it was all on the Flash container), and didn't stop until I turned Adblock back on (I gave them about a minute).

I'm glad I'm not the only one. I've been wondering why it happens to me all the time. I thought I messed up something, or virus/malwares, etc.
Very disappointed with flash player. Browsing used to be a fun experience, and now it's so frustrating. Non-responding script, browser crash ...now become part of daily routine. And it never gets fixed.

Ketchup, I can confirm the Adblocker solves the problem.
Thanks for bringing that up. I've heard Adblocker before, but never thought it would help my situation. I thought it would only stop ads from showing up. Apparently it helps blocking those troubling ads from crashing the browser too.
I retested browsing to those 2 sites I mentioned with Adblocker, and firefox memory consumption keeps steady at 520MB even after 15 minutes, and it feels a lot snappier too.
I'm glad I asked in this forum. At least I have solution now.
Thank you for helping.
