90MB???

Mine only uses 24mb
sure, when it starts... after some usage, it grows and grows...

Up at 45mb for me at the moment, 1 window/tab.
OMG 45mb out of your minimum of 1gb of virtual memory, the travesty!!!
I forgive you, for you do not know what else is already running on my machine. Know how much IE takes up ? I do use FF, but the truth is it's still a damned filthy hog for what it is.

I'm not about to download another large program when I can download any features that allow firefox to mimic opera that are only like 100KB.

I've used FireFox for the last 3 months. I've really gotten used to the tabbed browsing and a better "find" method, but beyond that I don't think it's that much better than IE. It doesn't have any fewer security problems than IE and is probably a little more quirky than IE. When IE comes out with tabbed browsing this summer, I'll atleast give them a try again.

tried it yesterday, and I've made my conclusion:

FF > *

it's just a lot nicer, still faster, more customizable, has a cooler icon, and it's always free

no way with opera going back is instant. Not like ff. I still  ff though.

Here are the little shortcuts in Opera that I really like, I'm not sure if FF has them but this is why I like Opera:

-All menus and toolbars HIGHLY customizable
-Built-in mouse gestures
-Autofill information
-Password saver, multiple accounts (magic wand)
-"Go to URL" feature when u highlight an address
-"Paste and go"
-Ability to use Windows Native skin(whateevr VS i'm using, Opera will mimick it)
-Builtin Mail program
-Faster loading than all browsers, from speed tests
-Good popup blocking. From waht I hear some ads have been leaking through in FF?
-F12 = quick preferences, change popup settings, and other preferences on the fly
-irc support

I think Opera is hella faster than FF. I refuse to be converted if I cannot import my Firefox bookmarks, so if someone can help me out with that then I'll gladly be your newest Opera fanboi.

File>import> import netscape bookmarks

Navigate to
documents and settings>*****>application data> mozilla> firefox> profiles>*****>bookmarks

*****=file name varies

OK, from my half hour of using Opera just now, I can confirm that "paste and go", mouse gestures, speed, and popup blocking are solid. It's also really customizable. I don't like autofill/password saving (everyone who works in IT is usually paranoid about these things). I am missing adblock and bugmenot from FF, though.

FF for me. Opera can't get nearly as many custom addons (extensions+) as FF can.

Because all those features are already included 😛

Tools --> Preferences --> Security --> uncheck "Enable Wand"

Adblock is the only thing from Firefox that I miss.

But, I've got that all blocked at the router level, so I don't see most of the ads anyway 😛

File --> Import --> Netscape Bookmarks 😉

Live image zooming (text AND pictures) is one I use all the time 🙂
Oh, and browser emulation is a fun, but pretty useless feature 😛 (View --> style)
Reload every --> x second\minutes
Open frame in new window
Bookmark nicknames
Automatically saved sessions for reloading after power outages 😛
Built in RSS reader (It works, but I don't use it)

I think one can safely determine with a fair amount of accuracy this is a classic case of lack of thorough testing.

Believe it can be turned off altogether. Varies by version. Which version are you using?

Several options. Have always, always, always preferred using Proxomitron as it is extremely powerful, robust, and browser independent.

That said, Proxomitron can have a steep learning curve for some users. One alternative is OperaAdFilter.

My method works too 😛

For those of you without 16x12 screens 😛

AdBlock's process is alot smoother. I won't argue that AdFilter is superior (AdFilter still leaves the space where the ad was) but that program looks pretty spiffy. I'll have to try it out sometime 🙂
