Firefox extension to block advertisement popups

As the topic suggests, I'm looking for a firefox extension to block those ads that are becoming popular on news sites. The ones where they have targeted words that have a little balloon pop up when the pointer is positioned on the word and then they make you click elsewhere to get it to go away.

Does one exist?

Adblock Plus, sign up for one or more of the filter subscription during install. That will probably take care of it but if not you can manually block the script on the offending site.

what i do is view the source and block the ad site in the hosts file. its usually something like: itxt.vibrantmedia.com

I agree with the OP, this is very annoying. I have a habit of highlighting text I read to keep my place...
Glad to hear I'm not the only one to do this, most people just look at me like I'm crazy.
