Firefox and shutting PC off

I don't know if it's just happening to me or not, but for the past 2 PCs, i had firefox installed, and if i had a browser opened and tried to shut down, it would display the Closing Program progress box.

I'm not sure why this is, as no other program conflcts with shutdown.

Naturally the "dont be lazy, just click End Now and be on with it" would be suggested, but sometimes if i were in a hurry, i click click start, u, u and run off, but the machine wouldn't shut off. Or if the PC is in another room and i shut off to goto bed and instead i have to wait and ensure its off properly.

Know what I'm getting at? thanks

Suggestions? Troubleshoots?

It it just me, or does anybody else here wonder if Microsoft has managed to create a less hospitable environment for Firefox over the last few months?

I got this a few times. It ended once I scanned for spyware and found a TON. I suggest you do the same. I also recommend cleaning the registry using something like registry mechanic (I advise AGAINST going into regedit.exe and messing with things). See if that helps.

same thing happens to me with W2000, even if I close Firefox. No spyware or adware.

try and post over at the mozilla forums.
