Firefox and Media Player Classic

I'm trying to use Media Player Classic exclusively in Firefox as the default player for embedded video and audio content, specifically .wmv and .mpg files. I've installed the Firefox Windows Media plug-in and associated everything with Media Player Classic under Firefox but I get nothing when trying to play .wmv and .mpg content. Quicktime and Real media works fine using QT and Real alternative.

I integrated SP1 into Vista using vLite and then used that as a base to cut out a lot of unwanted programs and features, one of those being WMP and WMC. I suspect that has something to do with my problem but I don't see why it would prevent me from viewing content when I have MPC in WMP's place. It seems everything's working well except .wmv and .mpg webpage content.
