FF 47.0.1 on Windows 10 Home 64 Bit on a Toshiba Laptop ... no real need for a 64 bit browser for what I do. I can open quite a few tabs at once with no issues.

64 bit builds isn't only about the more memory it has access to, but using ASLR better since it isn't limited to the old address space, among other things.

I think the date they set was sometime in April where they will make the 64 bit version of FF the default, but, I was just curious how many people are still using win32 builds.

Thanks. I guess the official release will be tomorrow? Good to know.

I've switched over a while back to 64 bit with no issues.

I was just curious so I dl'd it and unpacked the 64 bit version. I see files dated from 2010 mixed with 1/23/2017 and no official installer that I can find. I suppose that I'll wait for the official release.

Been using Waterfox since nearly forever. I tried Firefox 64-bit, and even used it for a brief while, but, barring code bugs, Waterfox seems faster and better to me, so I stick with it.

Not sure what happens after you get to 47.0.2 .. some sites say something about websense (whatever that is) and a change of the update url location. Not sure if it turns forced updates back on or not.

Still no performance improvements with regard to multi-threading from what I can see; the multi-tab job I've been throwing at recent versions of FF (with multiprocess windows enabled) is still taking 40 seconds, as it did before that feature was introduced. I would be interested to know if anyone else has a similar test that they throw at new versions (ie. a consistent metric with which to measure performance), and whether you've seen a quantifiable improvement.

I don't really have a test.. so you just see how long it takes to load all the tabs?

It does seem a bit snappier over the last couple of versions to me...

Downloading now... I hope it's better than 50.1.0. Scrolling seemed to really lag on web pages with lots of images.

Will do it myself I guess, but have been running 50.1 on WIN10.

Think I'll give the X64 a go again, just installed it.

Thanks for the info.

I have a folder full of tabs that I tell it to open all at once. It's the same list of tabs every time. I use a stopwatch and start it from the moment I confirm it's OK to open all the tabs to the moment that it finishes loading the website icons on the tabs. Even with a new profile I've been getting the same result for as long as I remember.

Sometimes I load the same set of tabs once before doing the stopwatch test to remove the possibility of the network being an inhibiting factor, but it doesn't seem to make any difference. Perhaps the sites and pages in question aren't updating content very often.

I between the forum change and the FF upgrade still playing around, but things seem pretty copacetic again it looks.

I tried to update FF on my laptop a little while ago and it still won't do it when I check using its self update function.

FF28 linux-i686 on my main laptop, and FF45.7esr linux-i686 on the faster laptop that can handle the extra bloat. "win32" more like "lose32", linux32 is the winner! lol
