EDIT -
Firefox 39 is now posted on their main website and if you check for updates in your browser.

However, release notes aren't updated yet.

Weird that it's available in the browser but no release notes. Wonder if someone screwed up.

I've noticed that usually there's a delay in posting the release notes, maybe because there's an automated system that pushes the new versions to the web.

The issue with the scroll wheel not working and menu's disappearing with FF 38 when clicking on a link from within a private browsing window seems to have been fixed. See the Firefox 38 thread for details of the issue.

(This fix doesn't seem to appear in the change log nor is is specifically called out as 'fixed' in the bug report that I and others have submitted. Regardless, it now seems to work correctly).

I download the stub from mozilla. Towards the end of the install it spun up one of my 2 data hdds. Why in the world would that happen?

Tried upgrading from 38.0.5 EME free 1.0 to 39.0, after FF told me that the new version was available. After downloading 16mb and trying to restart, got an error message saying that FF was still running and I had to shut it down. Was I suppose to shut down FF first before choosing to restart? About FF still shows the older version. I guess I'll wait for 39.0.1 or 0.2 to come out. I usually do that. I was curious because I am using the EME free version.

I did notice that the default FF download manager on the menu bar did not report on the new version download. Just said that there was no download during and after the download. Strange.

Well today 39 started crashing on me so no improvement over the previous version. Looks like I'm going back to IE for my primary browser.

Maybe you should look into your profile and your add-ons. It has been years since FF crashed on me (this does not include older versions of Flash crashing for one reason or another).

Try deleting the old Firefox profiles that get leftover.

The one crash I continue to have is when trying to browse for a file when uploading something or adding an attachment to an email. Doesn't happen all the time but maybe 40% of the time. On relaunch it works just fine.

Enough with all this useless fluff. Please :
1) Stop the "incrementing major version numbers" circle jerk with Chrome
2) Fix outstanding bugs
3) Make the f******g thing multi-process

I've been having an endless bug with firefox on youtube. Ever since Youtube disabled the flash player in Firefox I can watch ~10 minutes of video before the video disappears. Audio continues to play. I haven't been able to find a bug related to it but finding official firefox bugs is so tedious. Anyone else have this issue?

They are working on multi process now, it is in the alpha version so we should be seeing it pretty soon.

You can try this addon to force youtube to use flash instead

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/youtube-flash-player

Sorry I haven't heard of this problem before. Does it happen when you disable addons too?
Or on another user account on that computer?
Also you may need to update your video driver.

Thanks for the tip. I just wish I could figure out what the issue is. It's been like 3 releases and I keep hoping to see a mention somewhere but can't. I've even checked with their irc and no one there could point me in the right direction. So frustrating.

I have at least one FF install with Flash and one without. Neither crashes with Youtube videos. There were some bad Flash releases a year or so ago, but lately they have done will for me.

My suggestions would be to remove Flash, update Flash, remove any add-ons that are triggered by youtube (downloaders), and, if all else fails, create a new profile.
