Ever since I installed Firefox 3 on my laptop, periodically when I load a new page I get the message:

"Firefox.exe-Unable to locate component
This application has failed to start because xpcom_core.dll was not found. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem."

Firefox still works fine but this error message is extremely annoying. My two desktops have no problems at all running Firefox 3 and when I looked into the firefox program files on my desktop there was no such file as xpcom_core.dll. Has anyone else experienced this problem and is there anyway to get rid of this error?

System:
Dell Latitude D610
Pentium M 1.86GHz
2x512MB RAM
Windows XP Pro SP3

When you searched for the file did you check the box that says search hidden files and folders? it might be hidden.

Also, did you do the obvious and uninstall -> reinstall the firefox 3?

Here is some additional information from a google search on that error message: HERE

Hope this helps!

Yes I did reinstall Firefox to no effect. And as I said there is no such file on my desktop (which runs firefox fine).
