Well, I wanted to try out the new Flash 10.1 hardware-accelerated video features. I have a WalMart-special $200 laptop, with AMD TF-20 (1.6Ghz single-core), and ATI Radeon HD3200 onboard graphics.

I installed the 9.11 cats, which support flash 10.1.

I then downloaded the flash 10.1 installers, one for IE and one for Netscape/Mozilla. The IE one starts to install, and then crashes out and never finishes installing. (Don't know why.)

So because that one wouldn't work, I decided to grab the newest version of Firefox, 3.5.5. Then I installed the flash 10.1 plugin.

It seems to make a big difference watching Hulu.

I tried watching the last episode of Monk, as it was featured.

The first time, the initial ad froze up Firefox. I had to restart my machine, and then tried it, and it worked.

Until it got to the first commercial. Then it crashes Firefox hard. It does it whether or not I'm in full-screen mode. So that's a bust.

It doesn't crash IE8, but then again, that's running flash 10, not 10.1.

Has anyone else run into this problem? Any solutions, to watching Hulu in flash 10.1? Any way to install flash 10.1 onto IE8 in Win7 HP?

Hmm, I tried the newest 3.6beta4 build, and it managed to get past the first commercial break in windowed mode, but now after trying a few other builds, and then re-installing the 3.6beta4, it's crashing again on the same spot.

Solved, partially at least. Now Firefox (3.6beta4) doesn't crash during the commercial breaks at hulu.com.

Solution: Install ATI Cat 9.12s.
