Firefox 29 - I don't like the new look

Nope..it just updated yesterday, and looks exactly the same as before the update...(and for the last year or so?). I'm going to guess it's a setting you need to change because it defaulted back or something...and yes, that does look horrid.

Do you know any addons that can mimic High Contrast Mode on websites in Firefox? I had one called "Change Colors" in Chrome but didn't see anything similar for Firefox at first glance. Figured I'd ask since you like dark...

I usually do it with Stylish. Many sites have dark themes others have made, or if one doesn't exist, and I use the site a lot, I make one myself. There's also Colorific. That works easily, but it flashes from default to restyled on page loads, so it's kind of distracting.

I think you can find just about every release here:

Wow so much better, I'm back on 28 now. Definitely not updating from this point on.

I really wish companies would stop constantly changing stuff just for sake of change. It seems to be a trend everywhere.

Is that Linux? If yes, that makes me feel better, since my main system is Linux, so at least once I accidentally update it wont be as bad.

Yep. I'm running PeppemintOS 3. Updated to 29 and didn't run into any problems. I'm running a fairly vanilla setup of FF though. Just have AB, Ghostery, and a few other extensions.

Then, as I said before, you missed the update. You might have updated from v28 to v29, but nevertheless, you missed the update. My initial assertion stands.

You guys should really try Palemoon. It's got a 64-bit version so it "should" handle higher RAM usage scenarios better, at least that's what I've heard, personally the most it's used was around 1GB and that was due to flash and the youtube centre add on. But I'm not a 20+ tabs user so yeah...

Most modern browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, etc.) do in fact use quite a bit of RAM compared to a decade ago. 500MB for a few tabs isn't abnormal nowadays especially if your an Adblock plus user. That add on practically doubles RAM usage on any browser I've used it on.

Meanwhile my Power Mac G4 uses TenFourFox...

Yea, you keep saying it, but I think you might be a bit crazy. Mine auto updates, and it certainly did update and reset some things, but whatever you say. The intelligent answer would be that it is probably related to what I said in the beginning about deepdark.

Had to roll back my work one too as it auto updated on me.

Freaking hate how they keep changing it all the time. Leave it alone! But it seems every software maker is on the "change all the things!" bandwagon. Pisses me off.

I too don't like change for the sake of change and I prefer the old look but I really don't have a problem with this update. Everything works fine and it's snappy.

Obviously (as I stated in your quote, I had an update..one of many actually) one of us is misunderstanding, so rather than continue in this fashion I ask this:

Is the update you are referring to one YOU went out and grabbed or was it a push? If it was a grab, you are correct. If it was a push, then you are incorrect.

P.S.: I was running 29.01 at the time of my original post.

Just finished the update. Everything that matters to me works just fine. My home page and my links are right there. No complaints here. Chrome was a loser for me - Maxthon was too complicated. Still need to try PaleMoon. Gotta keep an open mind. . . .

This is why I use the SeaMonkey browser! My browser hasn't has any significant change in appearance or in menus in over 15 years! Ha!

This browser was born when the Mozilla browser became Firefox, to keep the look of the former.

There are two things I absolutely hate with the firefox browser:
(1) the tabs at the very top, I often use firefox when connected to a machine through remote desktop, the rdp toolbar pulls down as I try to change tabs
(2) the menu should be a list of items, not big icons. I have a keyboard and mouse, I prefer to use them efficiently.

Just updated, first thing I did was search for "tabs on bottom" on the Mozilla Add-ons site and a number of results were found. Picked one and all is well.
