and one thing that always has bugged me is why the HELL are the TABS ON TOP of the address bar... this goes for IE, Chrome too..

The way I see is I want all the common stuff above my tabs as in my mind it make more logical sense that way. who the hell though of putting it all above everything.

You can put them below the address bar. It's a config setting that can easily be set by the classic theme restorer.

IMHO the main reason the came up with that shit are the idiotic low res 16:9 screens everywhere. To maximize vertical screen space, tabs are in the title bar at the top. If you change this setting in firefox you lose a couple of pixels of vertical screen real estate and with something like 1366x768 that actually matters quiet a bit.

I hate Firefox 29. I was forced to upgrade to this crap for some reason. I think it was because I clicked on the "about Firefox" thing and clicked on "check for updates". I wanted to see which version was the newest one. I thought it would ask before updating. Greasemonkey won't work when using the classic theme restorer, so I have to use this horrible UI. Guess I'm going to have to get used to it.

his tactlessness doesn't invalidate his piont - people with lower end systems shouldn't be complaining about modern browsers using up a lot of memory when loading modern websites, as it isn't the browser's fault (ie if you complain about anything, complain about the inefficiency of modern websites), especially if they have wasteful browsing habits with dozens+ of tabs open at a time.

You can use Mozilla backup to save all your settings, extensions, bookmarks, etc., and then restore them to the new install. I've done this many times with Firefox.

The latest Steam hardware survey says that only 40% of their computer users have 8 or more GB of memory. Something tells me that your average Joe who doesn't play PC games still has 2 GB or 4 GB in most of their systems. Hell... the laptop that I'm on now only has 6 GB.

It's like if the title bar was enlarged and they just shoved everything inside it. I wonder if there's a way I can roll back. It looks like GUI vomit. This is just wrong.

I hope it wont end up looking this terrible in Linux too if I eventually get forced into it.

Balls. I don't even need to read the rest of the comments because this summarizes my feelings.

Oh and they actually seemed to have changed things. Can't have the bookmark star in the url/search bar anymore, it's now a 2 icon deal. Can't have the separate search box further over to the side, because the constant stupid hamburger icon is there. Feel like the navigation icons are changed/removed/not available.

My roommate walked by my computer earlier and asked why I hadn't updated Firefox yet. Since I pretty much never close my browser, I only get update notifications if I restart my system. Checked and sure enough, I had an update awaiting.

Holy hell, was that a mistake. I used it for about a half hour, and literally every single change that I came across made Firefox worse. I quickly decided to downgrade to 28, and will consider my options going forward. Perhaps it's time to switch to Pale Moon.

I'm sticking with 28 on all my builds and I'm happy as always. I do have Aurora installed just to check, from time to time, if they fixed the most obvious bug for me: not overriding my custom windows theme.

I just checked it. Still nothing, of course. Knowing Mozilla as well as I do I don't think they'll fix it until at least December.

I am trying Firefox 29.01 as a Portable Install and so far, I do not like it. FEBE (even V 8.0.3) will not install and I know for sure my Firefox 3 Theme For Firefox 4 will not install, as well as Google Toolbar (I like that as I gave some custom shortcut buttons on it that I use constantly) I also heard Forecast Fox will not work with FF29 yet. Until I can make look just like FF28 with the Firefox 3 Theme, they can keep this lousy release. Firefox tried to trick me into updating to this as a "security update" Mozilla should have a Roll Back Feature, so if a new release screws things up, the user can go back easily.

Forecast Fox 2.2.4 will not work in FF29 .. says it is installed in Add Ons, but it does not show up on any toolbar. My old Google toolbar will not actually install, but all of it's icons are in the Customize section. So I can put my buttons back, but they show up as Icons only and it will not accept my choice to set them as Icons and Text ... still needs a bunch of work before I would be happy .. good thing I tried the Portable Firefox so as not to screw up the main installation.

Am I missing something...my UI is the same as it's been forever....only thing I had to do with 29's latest update was re-enable deepdark.

I do think FF uses an unusually large amount of ram (I see it hovering around 1.5-2GB regularly), but considering I almost live out of it I guess that's how it goes.

For those who did not see it, here is how hideous it looks:



The tabs are literally embedded inside the title bar and inactive tabs are transparent so you only get the color of the title bar. I imagine this is worse for people who are using themes.

I'm also having trouble finding a Firefox 28 download anywhere. Need to roll back that shit.
