I am scratching my head on this one. I thought at the scene of a serious accident Fire fighters and paramedics had the final say on how to handle a scene and where and how to park?

CHULA VISTA (CBS 8) – A Chula Vista firefighter responding to a rollover accident on I-805 ended up in handcuffs Tuesday night after a dispute with a CHP officer.

CBS News 8 cameras were rolling around 9:00 p.m. when the firefighter and CHP officer got in a dispute over where the fire engine should park, while firefighters were responding to the crash that happened north on I-805 between Telegraph Canyon Road and East Orange Avenue.

Neither agency would make an official statement on camera.

CBS News 8 video shows the CHP officer cuffing the firefighter, who was still in his uniform, at the scene of the accident. In the background, other fire crews and officers can be seen tending to the victims of the rollover accident.

The firefighter was detained in the back of a CHP vehicle for about half an hour before being released. CHP and Chula Vista Police say both agencies will meet on Wednesday to discuss the incident.

The driver of a white Honda Civic involved in the crash was transported to the hospital. No word on the condition of the second driver.

Representatives from the CHP and Chura Vista Fire Department are scheduled to meet Wednesday to discuss the details of this incident.

yeah i was thinking about that old case.

watching the vidoe its the same story. firefighter puts truck in a place to PROTECT them and the victims. police officer thinks he is in charge and wants truck moved. firefighter who wants protection of a huge fucking truck says no.

cop then has to show he is in charge and arrest him.

this won't end well for the cop.

lol wasn't the old video of a CHP police officer too? you would think they would learn..

I just watched the youtube vid you just linked, and you can see how fast cars are wizzing by the accident scene, and this is the reason the firefighters park the truck the way they do to ensure safety to themselves and the critically injured. You really have to wonder if any of these officers have any real brain capacity when they do something like this.

It's because Cops are taught to win confrontations, with anyone. They aren't taught to deescalate a situation or resolve a dispute, they are taught to WIN! So, he won... for now. Cop should be fired for being a moron.

One of the key parts of being a LEO should be a the ability to use good judgement. This officer doesn't appear to have the ability to exercise good judgement. He'll probably be promoted shortly ;)

Actually, they are not supposed to use judgement at all.

They are trained to go by policy, period. No "judging" involved.

Police officers can NOT take no for an answer in any circumstance.
Police officers MUST escalate force to achieve their objective.
Police officer safety comes first, before the safety of "civilians."
