Firefall open beta starts today - does anyone care?

Just curious if anyone is following this game anymore. I guess there's been a lot of changes over the last couple years and I really stopped following it. But alas, I got the email about it, and here it is.

Anyone?

I haven't played it in a while. It is a pretty fun game, and I enjoyed myself quite a bit but it's one of those games that I personally feel is better played with friends, and only one of my friends got it and played it with me. And he stopped playing a while back. 🙁

I might log in just to check it out though.

I started playing it last night and enjoyed what little time I was able to put into it. I'll continue to play it over the next few days but it seemed fun.

A group of us tried it out a few months ago. While initially fun, there was absolutely no variety in the game. It was drop a thumper, kill some stuff, repeat. I don't know if they've done anything further since then, but we grew quickly bored of it in a few weeks.

I like the game, but they keep changing things lol. been playing since closed beta. Looks like it is making progress, which is good.

I found it's basically Tribes with some sort of PvE advancement attached to it. There really is nothing "MMO" about it, just like most games out these days that call themselves MMO. It's just a PvP-matchmaking game with a really pretty lobby where you can actually waste some time doing pseudo-pve stuff in.

Yeah, overall I'm not terribly impressed with the game.

It feels like they've ironed out the server communications (lag) issues a good bit over the last few days, but there's really nothing deeply engrossing about the game itself that I can see to hold much interest for more than a couple weeks. Add another one to the pile.

That kills it for me. I don't do PvP in any form, so guess that rules this game out.

From what I've played so far, I've found the following.

There are 4 worlds that you can go to, 1 is a capture the flag type area. I'm not sure how teams are broken up. An area for missions that is for players level 1-24, and another area that is for missions for players in the 24-40 range. I don't really know what the last one is, I haven't visited it yet.

There is a small area on the beginning map that is PVP, when you enter that area, it will tell you that you are entering it by flashing a message up on the screen, this area appears to be totally avoidable as well, I walked through it and didn't see anyone else.

The Chosen are able to recapture land, and once a melding tornado is defeated you can go into a bonus area to get more resources. There is a time limit in this area, and the map collapses if you don't make it to the exit in time.

Anybody play this game still? Checked it out a little this morning but as a total noob who hasnt done much pregame research didnt really know what direction to head.
