So, I got FIRED! Yay, huh?

<rant>
Well this marks the beginning of the end of GreenField Village's (in Dearborn, MI) Catering team. Us guys (bussers for weddings, etc.) were out taking a break in the 'break area' outside which is sort of like a concrete courtyard. Anyways, the other guys were playing football with a pop bottle (plastic) filled with water or whatever... kicking it so it would hit the wall of the building / windows or go in the street. Well, I was tired so I saw a wall (border of the courtyard) about 7 feet high and decided that would be a nice place to go chill and maybe lay down on. So I get up there and just sit there, doing my thing- which was nothing. No harm done. (In presence of a "leader" mind you, so i figured it was okay) Anyways my genius friend decides that he wants to come up also. He's freakin tall but he's too weak to get up so he decides to use a statue as a ladder and ends up breaking it. Later in the night the director of the place finds out and flips. My friend ends up getting fired and my other co-workers get suspended for who knows how long. Anyway, I was just informed that it's 99% sure that i'm getting fired now also. WTF? It's nice to know that I'M getting fired for something that doesn't harm a damn thing, while the other guys are hitting windows and sh!t with the bottle and messing up the landscape (heh i added that in for kicks). But uhm...yeah. Bitches ...that's all my managers are. So %70 of the staff is now suspended with 2 additional fired.

I'm going to talk to my manager tomorrow since it isn't set in stone yet about me getting fired. Is there anything that I can bring up that one of you might have thought of in my defense to help me at least keep my job?

How about you just tell him you didn't do anything? Unless you helped him up onto the statue, you weren't involved in his foolishness. Did they say WHY you were getting fired? Was it because you were up on the wall? Because you didn't stop the other guy? Cause they think you did something you didn't? Make the guy explain why he's firing you.

Your activity sounds the least harmful of all, but it would still be better to take a break in one of their snack shops or designated areas in the futre instead of laying about on the walls/buildings/etc. Go ahead and talk to your supervisor, it doesn't sound like you've done anything worth being fired for.

Well i think my reasons are going to be:

1. Leader didn't say anything, in fact phraised me for going up there
2. Didn't destroy, or disrupt anything
3. Had no partake in the other coworkers with the bottle's actions
4. Didn't assist in anyway the guy who tried climbing on the statue, as a matter of fact I said he shouldn't do that anyway.

Ah yes...it took me a LONG time to understand the consequences of sitting idly by in the presence of others engaging in activities or behaviors that will lead to nothing good and may invite trouble.

Now I just get up and leave, making sure there is no way I can be associated with it because I was in the immediate vicinity. You don't have to play 'father', just leave.

Ask him why you're being fired. If he doesn't give you one, sue the crap out of them for wrongful termination. It plays well in small claims.
