Fired up Kerry considering running again in 2008

Democrat John F. Kerry plans to use his Senate seat and long lists of supporters to remain a major voice in American politics despite losing the presidential race last Tuesday, and he is assessing the feasibility of trying again in 2008, friends and aides said yesterday.

Didn't Al Gore want to run again in '04?

Gore lost all chances of running again because of the florida debacle.

Kerry is done as far as President goes. Hillary is the nominee if she wants it, and she does. Nothing will stop her from getting the nomination. Nothing I tell you! bwahahaha

I think he has the potential for being a major voice in politics. He got a very large number of votes for the losing candidate, 48% of the voters, which is a record since after 1976 (except for 2000 of course). High popularity, large list of supporters, maybe the next 4 years won't be as one sided as conservatives seem to think

I don't believe that is a good indicator of his potential. He was the only other candidate that had a chance of winning. If anything, this election hurt him more than helping.

I don't believe that is a good indicator of his potential. He was the only other candidate that had a chance of winning. If anything, this election hurt him more than helping.

I'm not sure he'd make a good candidate...but I still think a large percentage of the country could see him as saving them from Bush or something if Bush flips them the bird and does whatever he wants. We'll see, if Bush plays it right, no one will even listen to Kerry. But I already see the "us against them" thing from both sides, so I wouldn't bet on it.

I don't think he got a significant number of votes as "John Kerry," but rather as "Not Bush." Big difference, IMO. Kerry is pretty much irrelevant, as far as many people are concerned.

I can't really see him running again... but bear in mind that Gore didn't rule out an '04 run until a couple months before the democratic primaries began (IIRC)

That would be truly comical if the democratic party allowed that.

There is no reason to think he'll be a bigger player in the next four years than Gore was in his 4 after, and he was all but a non-entity.

Seriously though, Kerry isn't a youngster. He looked pretty worn after this campaign (who wouldn't) but in 4 more years will he have the same energy?
