Why is African American a PC term? What if he was from Brazil or something. I would be offended.

If that's what you want to get out of her words sure.

I get

"Despite all the bad stuff I said about black people, I am not a racist because I gave a poor black man whose main talent is being rhythmic the greatest gift in the world- the approval of a white woman."

It is a way worse version of the "I can say that, I have a black friend" excuse.

Or... you could just not a racist ass fuck and post racist ass fuck tirades. What she said's racist as shit, not surprising the majority of people on here don't see it like that at all. ATOT's home to a lot of closest racists so it doesn't surprise me.

Why is it racist?

Why is it racist?

I dunno, because it is? WHY did she get fired? Why have most of the people I worked with who brought it up in agree that she's prejudice? If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck...

on ATOT nothing is ever racist, it's people reading into it, or white guilt, but it's never racist though. Meanwhile I've shown countless threads to co-workers where quite a few have ask if these are my friends and wonder if I'm in the closet with them too. Of course let ATOT tell it, it's only because my co workers are feeling white guilt I'm sure.

I mean I guess she didn't post a picture of a black person hanging from a tree on fire while she's throwing up the Hitler sign. But short of that or using the n word the racism in her post is clear as day. But then again I'm sure ATOTers will chalk it up to her "just being honest" and "just stating facts" and mention something about instincts and always being right in these situations.

Uh how is this even a debate. She'd be fired from every company I've ever worked for without question (all Fortune 500 companies).

Lol. Brings me back to this wonderful blogpost that totally captures the view I have being West Indian.

Meh, nothing wrong with what she said.

I'm not seeing the racism.

No one cares about context on the internet.

Except, that wasn't what she said, or meant.

If that's what you want to get out of her words sure.

You must be racist as hell to get that one line from what you read. The real, disgusting racist is you.

Since everyone in this thread is an expert on what she didn't say, I ask again for the fifth time WHAT WAS SHE TRYING TO SAY THAT SUPPOSEDLY GOT LOST IN TRANSLATION?

There are shitty black people but there are good black people trying to do something with their lives.

Since the killers haven't been identified, why was it ok to racially profile them as black?

Better yet, why did she bring up black people at all? How does this case involve black people in any way?

Do you realize how easy it is to go back into anyone's post history and take what they said out of context to make them seem sexist, homophobic, racist, etc? Anyone with 5,000+ posts I absolutely bet (assuming you don't keep mostly to the technical forums) anyone could make it seem like you are bigoted in some way.

I'm not saying she does or doesn't harbor some racist sentiments, but context is everything and if her anchor job doesn't involve the same kind of commentary she makes online, this shouldn't be a story. She may be guilty of making assumptions and profiling - and note that she's making assumptions not just about race, but overall background and age - but that doesn't automatically make her a racist. I wouldn't condemn her without knowing her... being quick to cry "racist" just makes one as guilty of making assumptions as she is. And we all know what happens when you assume...*

The only CLEAR thing she's guilty of is being overly descriptive. Her writing sucks. :p

* I'm sorry. I hate that phrase, too.

This is ATOT, racism = white guilt, there is no racism in the world, we have a black president for shits sake!

*if you let ATOTers tell it, and since I find racism in what she wrote, that makes me racist for reading into it. So somehow not only is this bitch not racist, but I'm racist for reading words and magically creating racism in it.

It's like a weird double reverse racism.

its not technically but it is because everyone knows shes calling out blacks

statistically its pretty even on which race commits crimes, there are a handful of them where 1 specific race dominates but for violent crimes whites commit more of them then any other race
https://www.fbi.gov/about-us/cjis/u...he-u.s.-2012/tables/43tabledatadecoverviewpdf

Let see, whites is the MAJORITY or about 70% of US population, blacks is about 13% (numbers are rounding out).

From your own link (Table 43A):

Murder and nonnegligent manslaughter = whites (48.2%), blacks (49.4%)

Forcible rape = whites (65%), blacks (32.5%)

Robbery = whites (43.4%), blacks (54.9%)

Do you see the disproportionately yet?

Those numbers tell me I'm more likely to be robbed by a black person, and forcibly raped by a white person. I don't care about proportions, I'm more likely to be raped by a white dude which means I need to watch out more for white people as I don't ever want to be raped.

The entire neighborhood is black. I was reading accounts that say you hear gunfire every night. She's been reporting for over 10 years and knows that neighborhood. So saying it's a black youth is like calling rice white.

But whatever, if she was any other color than white people would read what she said and agree that things need to change in that neighborhood. Rather than calling her racists.
