Do you need a firearm permit to buy a BB Gun up in Maine? I'm from out of state, so I'm not sure what their rules are.

i have no clue really, but I've never, EVER heard of a country that craves a license for owning BB guns....Denmark has one of the strictest gun laws in the worlds, and you just need to be 18 to own a BB gun, that's it

Speaking of bb guns crossman (can't remember the exact homepage now), has a really sweet rifle. Its a .22 caliber, CO2 powered (very good - definitely get co2 powered), that fires at like 630 fps or something like that. I used to have a gun that fired .177 at 525 FPS, and with a .22 cal the weight is prolly damn near doubled, plus extra speed. I'm not sure I'd use the word "stopping power", but definitely you wouldn't want to be on the receving end of an eye-shot from this thing :)

feet per second

I didn't even know they made CO2 powered .22's. Every .22 I've ever see has been a standard rifle or pistol with carts.

there's a difference between CO2 powered rifles and BB guns.....the difference is that you can shoot at eachother with BB guns, you'd be kinda mad to do that with a CO2 rifle......and since the guy asked for a BB gun, why on earth did you start talking about .22 rifles?

I used to have a C02 powered BB gun a few years ago, it was a revolver style gun. That thing had a lot of power, way more than your average Red Ryder air rifle...... I'd like to get another C02 BB gun if I can find one.

many manufacturers make 22 caliber pellet rifles. sheridan also makes a 20 caliber. They offer superior stopping power for an air rifle. Benjamin makes one of the longest running 22 cal air rifles.
as far as 177, does anybody remember wembley? god, i used to love the tempest.

I had a Tempest. Butt ugly and you could light a match with it from 20 feet away.
RWS and Beeman make some very nice (and expensive) air rifles/pistols. I believe Walther used to make Olympic grade air guns.

btw bass pro has some really good pellet single cock non co2 riffles if you have time to fiddle with the sights that is,but once you adjust them they are damn accurate and powerful

Are C02 BB guns more powerful than air guns as a rule, or is that not always the case?

I'd have to say Australia has THE toughest gun laws, they don't even allow them! Their Olympic team has to go to bfe to practice!

BB guns are out, paintball is the new thing. Its a lot safer (it is more expensive). I was shot in the leg at point blank with a pretty high power paintball gun and I was able to not only still stand fine, but I also kicked the crap out of the guy who did it with that very same leg!

I got the gun today; it's a small pellet gun that runs off of C02. It's not bad at all, it packs a whollop though, more so than my old air rifle. You would definitely not want to get shot with this thing. It's not compatible with BB's unfortunately, but oh well. Not bad for 50 bucks.
