Within the last month or two, it seems all three sites have removed all the firearms from their websites, despite the fact they still sell the firearms in their brick & mortar stores. There are getting to be very few stores to do research on, and that is rather odd.

I haven't heard anything out of the Doom & Gloomers about this yet either. Anyone have any idea what is going on?

EDIT: Cabela's has a few of their selections up, but nothing like they did a month ago.

Yeh, I have noticed this with many sporting goods establishments when trying to price items.

Nah. Corps will sell for as long as they can. No way they'd pre-emptively pull product off their websites in anticipation that they'd be forced to do so. Sandorski's suggestion makes sense.

Cabela's also sold out on all ammo, but so is every store within a 200 mile radius around here.

I have been trying to get confirmation or an official denial but supposedly getting a Beretta soon may be impossible...the 'rumor' is they have a military contract that will keep them busy enough for 1 year that they will not be producing civilian guns.

We heard this at two gun shows in the past 60 days. My dad just picked up a Beretta 92FS Marine Edition and a 92FS Inox. (and a colt 1911)

You mean we'll finally be protected from buying shitty Italian guns?

Excellent.

Regardless of where produced there supposedly will be a shortage here. However, I can't confirm or deny it...it's just circling the grapevine now.

There shouldn't be any shortage. Well any additional shortage to the already short supply. I don't know of any additional procurement of them. Foreign contracts, like for the Iraqi army, have gone to Glock.

They US made and Italian made 92s are identical. I think there may be one part that is different, but the tooling, etc. is the exact same. Side by side, you can't tell the difference. Ain't nothing wrong with them. I like mine well enough :)

I'm betting that sandorski has part of the reason. I'd bet that another part is that firearms aren't usually stocked in bulk, so it would be difficult to maintain a store-by-store inventory on a website. And then there's the fact that you cannot buy firearms online and have them shipped to you, so there's not as much incentive to put firearms online since there's no possibility of a return on the investment required to do so.
