legal to own, or legal to carry?

Bump. I went looking and all I got was "Smith vs. Jones in gun case...." etc type BS. 🙁
I want to know this, specifically:
If I move to the state of Nebraska, is it legal for me to have shotguns and handguns in my house or apartment. Also, is my concealed carry permit from TX recognized in Nebraska? Thanks very much!
Carrying concealed weapon: Not allowed.
Child firearm access prevention law: None.
Record of sale: No.
Registration: No.
License/permit to buy: No.
State wait period: Up to 2-day wait to acquire permit to purchase a handgun.
Background check: Handguns via state system, long guns via federal.
I live in Nebraska. Concealed weapons is quite close to passing in Nebraska (unfortunately) but luckilly it hasn't passed yet. But yes you can have weapons in the house, and you can have them in your truck (if mounted in view). And yes you can carry a weapon with you at all times (as long as it is in view). Basically the only thing you can't do is hide the weapon under your jacket, walk into a store, and pull it out to surprise the customers/employees. I don't see how that is bad, but oh well. My opinion: a person boldly carrying a visible gun is more of a crime deterent than a person who may/may not have a concealed one.Originally posted by: MichaelD
Damn. Oh well...I usually don't carry anyway....keep it in the truck on trips, though 😉 Background checks are a very good thing; that I can deal with. The important thing is that I can still be a well-armed homeowner. 🙂

You can keep handguns and shotguns in your house anywhere in the US, can't you?

Under D.C.'s current gun laws, all handguns are banned unless they were owned and registered in the District before 1977. Residents of the District, even the few remaining legal handgun owners, are prohibited from carrying their handguns in their own homes. Rifles and shotguns that can be legally registered and owned in the District must be stored unloaded, disassembled or locked, rendering them useless for self-defense, unless the gun is kept at a place of business.
