Don't keep us in suspense! What firewall are you using, and are you using XP as OS. This info will probably result in some answers.

Hi. I'm not familiar with Norton. I've never used any of their programs, but lots of people do. Someone will undoubtedly come along and suggest a setting for you. Why don't you try this, though, it may eliminate Norton as the problem. Enable your XP built in firewall, disable Norton, and then see if the login problem goes away.

Well, in my experience, running two firewalls, AV's, etc, isn't really good- lot's of times the programs tend to interfere with one another. Try turning off the XP firewall and see if Norton will let you in. As I said, I'm not familiar with Norton, but does your version have any privacy functions such as blocking cookies, etc? If so set it to accept cookies. Chances are with the XP firewall turned off it will be fine, but if not, I hope A Norton user will come by with ideas.

Sorry about that, somehow had McAfee on my mind. I've changed my comments to Norton, but everything still applies.

ok i reied that and i still get the same thing, heres the error page i get

"Server Error in '/' Application.
Runtime Error
Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine.

Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a <customErrors> tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This <customErrors> tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off".

<!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->

<configuration>
<system.web>
<customErrors mode="Off"/>
</system.web>
</configuration>

Notes: The current error page you are seeing can be replaced by a custom error page by modifying the "defaultRedirect" attribute of the application's <customErrors> configuration tag to point to a custom error page URL.

<!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->

<configuration>
<system.web>
<customErrors mode="RemoteOnly" defaultRedirect="mycustompage.htm"/>
</system.web>
</configuration>

Looks like a problem/setting with Norton then. Like I said, I'm not familiar with it. I'd recommend you edit the title of your post to something like "Norton firewall blocking this site". That might get more Norton users to look at it. Sorry I can't help with Norton.

And there is No way what so ever that something is wrong with the Site????:shocked:

A lot of Sites are Not conforming to Normal Web programming.

It is up-hazard whether it is going to end up not being compatible with one Security measure or the other (Firewall AV etc.).

If it is an important site to disabled the firewall for few minutes (like you do) or send them an email and tell them that their site is not working with NIS.
