Wow. After one of the driest winters in history, northern Kahleeforneeya is ablaze in many places.
There was one fire yesterday in the city of Stockton that burned over 300 homes, there's a large one near Santa Cruz that's expected to burn a MINIMUM of 1500 acres before they can get it under control, (and is threatening 1000 homes) there's another larger one near Chico that's over 6000 acres and is threatening to overrun the small town of Paradise. (I have a good friend there who has been evacuated)
We had one just outside our subdivision last weekend that burned about 20 acres, burned a couple of barns, but no homes.
Some of the fires are suspected to be "human caused" in one way or another, but so far, they haven't called them arson. Perhaps careless smokers throwing butts out of the car...that causes fires here every year.

This is shaping up to be a BAD fire season here.

Yes it did. After the dry winter we had this year, everything is tinder-dry and getting worse. Last night, they said the humidity levels would be in the single digits, and when coupled with the near 100 degree temps we're supposed to get for the next couple of days, they're expecting things to get worse. We could certainly use some of the abundant rainfall many parts of the country have been having.
