Personally, our Prime expires in April...and I need to replace my wife's aging 4th gen iPod Touch. What better way to do that than by giving her some terrible Amazon port of Android? 😛

Yeah pretty much lol. I'm going to pay for prime anyway so it's really dirt cheap.

It would probably end up with my mom eventually, it would be a big upgrade from the phone she has now, especially if I can load the Google play store on it for her.

they raised the price after shipping became delayed. they said their post launch review indicated they should have set an initial lower price, this could be part of that.

I am rather enjoying mine. It is not compatible with Google apps and app that relies on Google Services Framework, but the rest of them can be sideloaded easily. Even Google stuff can be added via workarounds but I did not bother. Fire OS is severely behind in voice command area but I hope more features will arrive on this phone via update. Running on a very popular platform (S800) gives me some confidence that the phone will be supported for a while.

The lower price thing is when it went to $0.01 on contract. This is just them dumping inventory.

For notifications, anyway to change so they are more noticeable or an app to do so?
