Can anyone please tell me how to get local videos from an SD card to play on the kid's account? We are going on a road trip with no access to WiFi/3G. The videos are already on the SD card and work fine from the adult account.

Might be an issue with the parental controls. You might have to specifically give the profile permission to view videos.

I haven't figured out how to do that. Amazon's instructions are only about Amazon videos.

"Store Photos and Personal Videos on Your SD Card - Pictures and videos recorded with the Amazon camera app on your Fire tablet will be stored directly to MicroSD Card. Pictures and personal videos stored on the MicroSD card will be restricted to the profile that took them. Photos and personal videos that are transferred to your Fire tablet via USB or that were previously downloaded to a MicroSD card will be available to all adult profiles."

I'm not happy about this at all. I want to give the kid access to videos but evidently only adults can view non Amazon videos.

Did it!

Downloaded ES File Explorer which would have worked except the program did not have "root" access so it could not copy the files into the proper folder. Very annoying!

Finally I got smart and recorded a video using the kid's account. I then took the SD card out of the Fire and copied the videos I wanted into the same directory as the on board video file.

I also created an account just to say thank you! I've been wanting to add videos to my son's Kids Fire for around 3 years now and thanks to you I finally have!!!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I just made a 5-second video, popped the card into my PC card reader, found the folder with the video file, and loaded it with all our videos.
And it works! Simple as that, no file explorers, cloud (Plex) server, or sideloading needed.
(We use VCL as a player. Downloaded it to the adult profile from the app store and allowed it on the kid's profile if anyone's wondering.)

When I put the card into a mac and/or a pc, it won't read it? I have been trying since I bought these tablets for my kids to put videos on their accounts and have had zero luck....and advice?
