Fire in high-rise office building kills three-

Holy Cow! I was wondering why there were a bunch of fire engines racing by while I was walking home. I was hoping it was a false alarm, but there were so many of them...

I'm a designated "fire warden" on the top floor of my workplace, and the last fire alarm we had (false alarm), it took me awhile to clear the floor because people wouldn't get off the G*DD*** phone! I'm gonna show them this story...

OMG! I work right next to this building. I actually left on time for once on Friday at 5pm, and I guess their alarms went off at 5:05pm. From my window, I can see the smoke marks. Six people died there.

The newspaper reported that a bunch of people were coming down a stairwell, when a firefighter above the 12th floor told them to turn back. Some of them escaped but they had to climb 5 flights of stairs to find an unlocked firedoor. At least three of the dead were found in that stairwell. On the radio I heard one guy (Cook County Public Guardian) say that he bets two of those people were probably trying to help the third person (an elderly lady) up the stairs, since she could barely walk DOWN one flight much less UP five. They all worked in his department. I think one of those people was a marathon runner.

D*mn, if they could have just gotten into the 12th or 13th floor, that building is adjacent to another one, and those people could have just broken a window and climbed onto the roof next door.
🙁:disgust:

Hmmm...lots of highly-placed political connections responsible for that building. The Cook County Public Guardian is asking the governor to start an independent investigation into this. The governor is going to leave it up to the corrupt city officials.:|
