Fire Drills are no good

So there was just a fire drill here in the dorm. Seems a water pipe broke on the otherside of our floor, flooding it and everyone's stuff. Thats not cool. 🙁 Glad I live on the other side.
 
That sucks...but it doesn't mean ALL fire drills are no good, I mean what happens when there is a real fire but no one understands the evacuation proceedure?
 
at college (indiana univ of PA) its a "tradition" for the frats to pull the fire alarms in every dorm, at least 1 time a night during pledging

5 times in 1 night...fug that, i just stayed in bed after the 3rd one 🙂

that is why i moved out of the dorm
 
One year someone made a repeated habit of tossing cig butts down the garbage chute thus causing fires in the room below.
Which resulted in multiple times having to evacuate the building.
Worst part is that my room was L-shaped and built AROUND the garbage chute. It smelled for weeks each time.

I think my 2nd year res takes the cake. Our house was having a war with the others... we'd throw dead fish in their heating ducts over xmas break, they'd put phone books in our lounge microwaves... and then pull the alarm at 2 am during midterms, and then again at 4:30... and then again twice the next night... It was impossible to sleep in that place.

That sounds like fun...my school dorms are like prison houses. They ar teh suck!
 
The fire drills are for your safety and that of everyone else in the building. It always takes something like this for most people to realize why we have the rules in place that we do.

NO FVCKING HALL SPORTS. It's for your safety and ours.

Floods stink. Someone in my old dorm thought it be fun to hang off from a fire sprinkler. He hung, it broke ....and along with an unstoppable 250 gallon/minute flow of water. Apparently the sprinker system freaked out in that area, all of them went off thinking there was a fire. It was like walking though a waterfall.

Sure, I just lost a whole quarter of books, notes... Housing department quickly covered it up. To this day, I never learned who broke the sprinkler and what will happen to him from the source. I learned from secondary sources.
 
College students, in general, are dumbasses. That goes for frats, dorms, etc. well, maybe it's all young people.

They think that pranks are "cool"... or that rules are made just to restrict their right to do whatever they want. They fail to see the real effects their actions have on the world around them.
