I will admit I have been a long time Jaguars fan (since their inception in 1995) and I have to say that this season has been very disappointing. After beating the Steelers last year in the playoffs it looked like this team might get over the hump.

I know a lot of NFL experts were all over the Garrard switch from Leftwich last year but I still say Garrard is way overrated and is a glorified backup. Garrard has no arm and is not very accurate.

This season has been marred by injury - 3 offensive lineman lost to injury. Too many players were shipped out of town and the free agents have been terrible. The two running back tandem of Jones-Drew and Taylor doesn't work.

After watching my team get crushed in prime time I think its time for a change - even if the Jags aren't noticed by many people as they are a very small market team.

Del Rio took over in 2003 and went 5-11, 9-7, 12-4, 8-8, 11-5 and is 4-8 so far this year.

/end rant

I understand your frustration (long time Jets fan here), but that teams has been decimated by injuries..... Taylor and Drew is a great RB combo, but nobody could run the ball with the make shift line they have (again, look at the Jets from last year to this year).

Garrard though, maybe you're right He may be under a lot more pressure to make big plays with his arm, and that's not the type of QB he is.

It also seems to me that the D got old real fast..... But honestly, I think they'll be a real good team next season...

9 months later and still the same crap from this clown. The team quit on him last year and now they went out and addressed the offensive line, defensive backs and added Holt to their offense and still nothing. Its about time to make the move here and maybe we can land someone like Cowher or Shanahan.

Holy shit balls, I was so fucking confused as to how they were 4-8 and beat the Steelers in the Playoffs last year.

Sorry I brought this one back from the dead. They beat the steelers in 2007 when they were 11-5. Last year they were 5-11 and this year 0-2. I'm a big Jags fan and this guy just needs to go. Time for a change please.

As a Colts fan, I must insist that Jack remain the coach of the Jags. He is an endless source of entertainment for us.

FINALLY!

http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news;_ylt=AspOOFrmsNDPLgSZ930A5BI5nYcB?slug=ap-jaguars-delriofired

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP)—The Jacksonville Jaguars have fired coach Jack Del Rio after a 3-8 start, parting ways with him during his ninth season.

Del Rio’s job security had been tenuous since owner Wayne Weaver said the coach needed to make the playoffs to secure a 10th season in Jacksonville. The Jaguars were essentially eliminated with Sunday’s 20-13 loss to Houston.

The Jaguars are struggling to sell tickets and host a Monday night game against San Diego.

Del Rio leaves with a 69-73 record, including 1-2 in two playoffs appearances. The Jaguars didn’t win the AFC South in any of his nine seasons.

Weaver considered firing Del Rio after last season, but kept him partly because of the uncertainty surrounding the NFL lockout.

I think he wanted to get fired, based on some of his post-game conference comments when he totally bagged on their O-coordinator.

Congrats, hopefully some new blood will get the Jags to a better place.

The NFL is a funny league. You can be horrible one year and be a division winner the next. It also works in reverse. :)

The Jags D has been very good this year. Gabbert has been horrible and looks lost. I'm not sure he's the future. I really wouldn't blame them if they had the chance to draft luck.

I really wish they would hire Cowher, move to LA and trade MJD for some top picks. He's the only guy worth anything and I'm sure teams like the Lions or Jets would line up for him.

This much is very true.

Jack has definitely had enough time to get something done... he just hasn't. Part of that can be blamed on the Colts success, as it is hard to do much of anything when you can't even win your own division.

But this season was Jack's best chance to salvage something. Peyton is down, and the Colts are terrible. Schaub is now down, and CJ2K had a terrible start to this year. The stars were aligned for the Jaguars this season, but then they lost Garrard (released him actually) and had a rookie QB take over for some inept passers. The AFC south is looking pretty awful this year, with the exception of maybe the Titans.

I am curious to see what the Jags end up doing. I would not at all be surprised if they move to LA. The Jags have been blacked out in their own region more times than I can remember.

Jim Caldwell should have never received the job, be mad about that. Del Rio and Sparano have been there way longer then they should have and had received extensions. Caldwell has been there, what, 2-3 seasons? He deserved that long, and they can't fire him now because the owner told him to tank for Luck.

I was extremely upset when it was handed to him without interviewing any other candidates. My friend argued with me about that (and many other things, like him saying the Colts would still win without Manning) and we see who won those arguments.

I ran into Caldwell at a local pizza joint a few years ago, when he was still an assistant. He looked just as clueless ordering pizza. :D

Del Rio and Sparano have been there way longer then they should have and had received extensions.

We had started calling Jack Del Rio by the name of "Il Sung" Del Rio since it seemed like he was going to be their eternal coach.

Link?

Coyer was fired today -- just as I predicted, as well. I predicted Coyer would be the first to go and would possibly be made the scapegoat for this mess. I hope I am wrong and Caldwell and the rest of the staff is canned too.

Hey, they can still go 5-11 :p

I'm just making an educated guess that they are tanking for luck, there was at least 1-2 games they could of won and didn't bother
