As DrPizza alluded, I don't think the video depicts the kid who died, but rather some other idiot who was luckier.

We're looking at this thru a camera. When it ended he probably wasn't even in a lot of pain. Its the 30 min to an hour after. That's when you really start to feel the burn.

The article said a boy named James died. I was assuming it was the boy in the video.
I was talking about the kid who lit himself on fire and ran into the other room. I know it only lasted 20 seconds, but he could have been sent to the hospital in critical condition. Who knows.

He was doomed to kill himself sooner or later. Shame it was with fire, I bet that was a really painful way to go.

I don't think I've ever seen an activity so worthy of a Darwin award. Condolences to the parents, but you raised a really, really, stupid son.
The mother is in the video. The mom tells her son to watch his mouth. The mother should be put in prison for endangering the welfare of a minor. If he really did die she should be charged with 2nd degree manslaughter.

The boy was in the hospital and they asked him what he thought would happen. He said he didn't know. Nuts!

The kid in the video isn't the one who died.

"It is paramount that the public stop sharing these videos."
And at what point does this sort of thing start to get counted as simple suicide?

"I dove into an industrial shredder after watching it chew up a sofa. I didn't think it would hurt me!"

Shores doused himself with alcohol and was set ablaze by his friends.
Oh, ok. I guess it'd be murder or manslaughter then, even if the person says "I offer my consent for you to kill me," which is what he did.

Two words: fucking morons

I have a teenager who just thinks that the entirety of being a teenager today is how many likes and views you can get on a YouTube video or Vine posting. She frequently hears the words "No" and "dumb ass" from me, much to the chagrin of my wife who thinks I should somehow be more sensitive because she's a girl.

Alcohol and fire do not mix. Sadly, this boy found out too late. He has since died from 3rd degree burns.

**A little cursing, boy is engulfed in flames**

I know kids are doing the knockout challenge now.
Too lazy to look it up.

This is an old magic trick. Mix water, alcohol and a little salt to color the flames. Dip or spray the mixture, the alcohol evaporates, light it and it burns, the water remains on the subject or object making it seem to burn but not consumed.

What exactly is the challenge here? Is it like the witch test, if you aren't set ablaze, you aren't a witch? I don't get it.

Well, people don't really readily burn, so that test wouldn't work. Dunking was the more common test you hear about. If you drown, you weren't a witch.

Do you people even read the article? If anyone here read the article every single person should know that the video was not the actual incident that is being talking about. Like no wonder people believe everything they read on the internet they don't take the time to read or even do a little research.

Gone wrong? Isn't that a little redundant? I can't think of any way that voluntarily dousing yourself with an accelerant and then lighting yourself on fire can "go right".

He's actually the first person to win the Facebook Fire Challenge since he didn't wuss-out and extinguish the fire.
