It's starting to get cold around here, so I decided to finally turn on the heat in my bedroom last night. I've only lived in this apartment for 4 months or so, and my bedroom has it's own little space heater in the wall.
I fell asleep only to be awoken around 4:00 am to an unusual and loud claxon. I stumped around my room, noticed it wasn't my alarm clock and smelled the smoke. I realized it was the space heater smoking and lurched across the room to the thermostat only to trip over some books on my floor. No good.
I got up and in a sleepy state, turned off the heat, but then couldn't figure out how to stop the smoke alarm. I finally just pulled it off the wall, that shut it up.
Of course this morning I was late and cold.
