FIOS TV woohooo!

Triumph

Lifer
Used to have dish

1. Picture is better
2. Menus are downloaded through the router and are loaded INSTANTLY
3. 160 gig hard drive
4. HD ready DVR
5. Media Manager - stream pictures and music to my TV (haven't figured out how yet)
6. Watch the movie trailer of any movie out in theaters (not just the On Demand stuff)
7. Push a button - get local weather and traffic at the bottom of my screen.
8. 160 GOOD channels that I'd have to buy dish's 180 channel line up to get.
9. Better HD lineup than Cox, 20 channels

And I think they messed up our prices, because the installer said installation was free, we didn't pay anything extra for an HD DVR box, and the total per month is $47!!! I think it's supposed to be $53. I guess I'll wait until the first bill comes to really see what they're charging us. Either way, even at $53 it's a better deal than satellite or digital cable. Everyone should have FIOS TV.

Oooh....I'm on my 2nd month of Fios internet....will be happy to get off the Comcrap cable!!!!

i dropped comcast and signed a 2 yr deal with directv.

of course, i've had fios now for one month. (no tv yet, only fios internet available here). the installers said, they would make fios TV available here once they get the permission of the township or something like that.

$53? 160 channels? I look forward to this in our area! I assume you need a tuner for each TV - how much does that cost?

I think he said they're running a 3 for Free promo right now, which isn't shown on their (limited) website. The DVR box has at least 2 tuners in it since I can record and watch two different things, so you should be able to get at least two TV's out of one box.

In any event, it is not going to be any more expensive than satellite, and probably cheaper, and faster, and w/ better picture. It's definitely a competitor. I think I'm going to go figure out how to connect my laptop to the box. 🙂

sincs FIOS TV goes through router, can you have FIOS TV w/o FIOS internet? Verizon offered it to me but I declined because I'm a Charter Biatch.

Is it anything like AT&T u-verse? They have a box 20 feet from my house but it's not on line yet.

It is vastly superior to U-Verse. U-Verse is just a stop-gap to provide something to compete with FiOS and other fiber offerings.

U-Verse is available in a very select market (far less than FiOS, which, albeit, is limited as well).
