FIOS router and bridging....

Gibson486

ANyone else here do it?

when I bridge my router, the on demand menus turn up blank. It just shows no information in each time slot. They said No to doing my internet connection as ethernet only, so bridging is the only option to use another router.

Also...you think we should have an everything FIOS stickey in the networking forum?Tol

EDIT:

I hate you verizon!!!! Your router sucks and support sucks also.

Cliffs:

Told router to use b only (no g).
Router will not do that...instead it will only do mixed.
Called support. They claim mixed is only option...then why do you bother even making it option on the router?
I reset router and try again.
I am right next to router and I get a message telling me that the router is out of range and cannot connect.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.......

Man...Verizon makes Comcast look like gold.

have you tried using a wired port on it to bridge it? im wondering if its only because of the wireless. i know you can bridge it while its wired. thats the way around the xbox 360/ xbox live issue...

My recommendation is to call them and demand that they change your internet to go over ethernet instead of the coax, then use a different router. The supplied router IMO is crap. The internet data can be configured to go over ethernet, verizon just doesn't like to do it because it requires more work on their end to run ethernet when coax is already run, but it can be setup this way. You'll still need to use the verizon router for your verizon tv on demand menu but if data is going over ethernet, you can put your own router as the main router and then just setup the verizon router's wan port on one of your router's LAN ports so your tv boxes still get internet.

Friend of mine has had to have Verizion come out 3 times to replace the main box/router. But each time they came out with no problems and even came out on the weekends.
