Just curious, but what should one expect with a 75/35 pipeline over wifi (n)?


Wired I get about 85/45 so no complaints but wireless I am seeing about 40/30 or there about. I know this is close to expected but should I be able to eek out some more? All hardware is correct so no issues there, I was just thinking/hoping that I could get closer to 50 down or so...

Anyone on a 75/35 line care to share your wifi stats?

Well, I moved the router out from behind the TV and now I am getting 45/33 or there abouts...

that's about what I get with my 50/25 FIOS line over wireless with a rev F router.

Edit: correction, I'm actually using a E2500 with Shibby Tomato for my wifi, on 2.4Ghz.

Thats about right, under perfect conditions you can get a bit better but the thing to remember about wireless is that it is half duplex and you have to deal with interference and retransmits not to mention encryption and tcp/ip overhead so you will never get close to 130mb.

Putting aside the Internet and the "Silly" online download tools (which is Not a real indicator for Wireless and LAN Traffic).

I can get on my Dual Band Network up to 32MB/sec. transfer when the two LAN Wireless stations (using a/n) are within 20 feet and No obstructions.

I.e., in theory a 75 Mb/sec. down should yield about 8MB/sec. transfer from a fast Internet Server.

50/25 here accessed by a wireless PC to a router that's a wireless bridge to the Actiontech and seeing 23/19 while a PC hardwired into the Actiontech is seeing 53/23. Your about where you should be. The FIOS wireless is where your bottleneck is.

Thank for the replies guys. I was hoping for 60'ish/30'ish over the 75/35 but am ok with 50'ish/30'ish. In steam I have seen anywhere from 6 to 10 over wireless so I guess that's pretty decent.

The Best solution is to put it about 2 feed away from the FIOS Modem/Router a decent Wireless Router that is capable to Dual band wireless.

The second Router should be connected to the FIOS Router (LAN port to LAN port via short cable cable and configured as an Access Point.

The FIOS Wireless should be put on Channel 1 and the second Wireless on Channel 11.

For less than $100 One can have nice fast Wireless coverage.

disable wireless on the verizon router and buy a good wireless access point. maybe some good wireless adapters too if necessary.

What should be done, is just to run Ethernet into a real router, and just use the Actionpoo thing as a Moca bridge, only for the set top boxes. The Actionpoo router sucks ass.
