fios and recording

I asked this last month but I was not clear, I would like to record shows from fios to my PC and be able to play them back at a later time on my TV. I do not need to record hbo or showtime but I would like to record scifi/syfy or comedy central stuff. What do I need to make this happen and does anyone know for sure if it generates a fee from verizon?

There's no real easy way to do this unfortunately. The way I do it is to hook my DVR box up to my PC's TV tuner with an s-video connection. If you can find a video capture card that handles component HD, you're laughing. Most tuner software will allow you to manually or time record without using an EPG.

The best way is to pre-record the shows to your FIOS DVR (if you have one) then dub the recordings to your PC.

That's not what I hoped for, I really wanted to record stuff without renting the fios DVR thanks for the suggestion I guess I need to wait for better cable card solutions
