Fiona Apple fans

I know it's a long shot, but I am curious if there are any other Fiona fans out there who have heard both versions of the album Extraordinary Machine. I just picked up the official release and I think I like the unreleased version better. It seems like they are trying too hard with the official release to make it accesible to mass audiences by adding heavy beats and so forth. I just think it came out sounding messier, although I still think it's a good cd.

Anyone else have any idea what im talking about?

I will say that even though I think the unofficial was better it is really cool to hear two versions of the same song by the same person. Extraordinary Machine and Waltz are the same on both versions, though.

I'd like to hear the unreleased version along with the discarded Liz Phair CD, but I'm too much of a goody-two-shoes to use p2p or newsgroups 🙁

It's too bad Sony's A&R man (who "said I don't hear a single" to version 1) and marketing suits were too stupid to offer a double-CD collections edition with both versions.

I definitly agree. Even if the unreleased really wasn't that good, the serious fans would still be interested.

I agree. I've been listening to the unofficial cd for months. I didn't even know that it was officially released until last week.

As of right now I definately like the old version better, but I'll probably end up liking the new one because the sound quality is so much better.
